My writing journey
It has been about 2 1/2 years or so since I started writing my first novel that's part of a christian fiction series of books. I'm still not finished yet :-(. I've kind of put it on the back burner for a while but it won't be there for long. I have also started a new romance series of which I am almost done with the first book of the series so look forward to a few excerpts from that book as well. I'll keep you posted as my journey continues.

In an effort to get me motivated about finishing my book i have decided to blog about my writing journey. Along the way I will give excerpts of my book. So stay tuned in for the latest here is the first excerpt ever for my blog.
It was Monday morning and Shonda was sitting at her desk still in shock of the phone call she had just received. Was this all her fault? Was there such a thing as damage control in a situation like this? Shonda wondered all these things and prayed that somehow this was all apart of God’s plan. For as long as she could remember she and her mother did not get
along. Maybe it was b/c they were so close in age with them only being ten years
apart, yes that’s right she was born when her mother was only ten.
Another thing that she vowed would
never happen, she would not have a child at such a young age and now that she
was 25 she wondered if she would ever have any at all considering all her body
had been put through as a teenager. She was raised by her grandmother b/c her
mother was just a child herself they were raised like sisters and her mother
was just like an older sister that wanted nothing to do with a younger sibling.
Shonda’s grandmother died when she was
only 13 leaving her and her mother alone with each other. That is when Shonda’s
mother Val started with drugs and was selling Shonda’s body to everyone that
came by the house just to support her drug habit. Shonda contracted all kinds
of std’s and finally after another visit to the clinic the nurse told her she
would probably be unable to have any children. Shonda begged and pleaded with Val
to not do this to her but Val had always resented Shonda for as she would say
“ruining her life” and when her God loving mother died and left her with Shonda
to raise Val was set on making Shonda pay for the pain she caused, literally.
Shonda was deep in thought until
she was interrupted by a knock on her office door. “Come in” she yelled, as she
wiped the tears from her face that she didn’t even realize were there. “Mrs. Lawson
your 10:00 is here to speak with you about final plans for the reception hall”,
her voice trailed off as she noticed her tear streaked makeup. “Are u okay?” You
look like a ghost was just in here. If only you knew, she thought. I’m fine, send in
our bride to be so we can finish up her wedding plans.
Tribute to Rosa Lee Robinson Thomas
This isn't an excerpt from my book just a poem I wrote in memory of a great woman.
A piece of my heart went to heaven today
a place in which i know it must stay
you see it was stolen away many years ago by a woman that everyone should know
she's gone to heaven to look down from above
still holding that piece of my heart that she stole
